Who Are We?

Currently, Utah Technology & Security is Kurt Pruhs, a few IT consultants, and service providers who lend their expertise to support our mission. Kurt has worked at various positions in the IT world from web designer, programmer, application architect, and IT Services Director. It was there he experienced the digital knowledge gap between IT professionals and non-technical tech users. For years he tried to fill this gap in spare moments and casual conversations. 

Why Utah Tech Sec?

While working as IT Services Director Kurt had the opportunity to dive deep into cybersecurity research and training. One of his primary missions for the company was to develop a security minded culture of informed and vigilant employees, regardless of technical knowledge. He worked hard to present training and information in ways that were easy to understand, with explanations that non-technical people could relate to. His efforts were largely successful. However, the impact felt small - too limited. He was making a difference in a single company yet still helping family and friends navigate hijacked social media and email accounts, phishing, SPAM, and investment scams. All while daily reports of increasing numbers of ransomware attacks and data breaches landed in his inbox. He felt there was more that should be done. With a little training and a shift in the approach our fully digital lives, regular tech users could be safe and make informed choices about privacy.

Our Mission

In 2026 Utah Technology & Security became the answer to Kurt's drive to bridge the digital security and privacy knowledge gap. Utah Tech Sec was created to bring corporate level security and training to small businesses, nonprofits, and every-day tech users. Our mission is to inform, empower and protect non-technical tech users so they feel  confident, safe, and secure in their digital lives. This mission extends to helping organizations meet data security and privacy regulations without the massive investment of large corporations. 

 

Why Now?

A few decades ago it was possible to opt out of digital life. That's not possible today. If we want a home, apartment, job, car, education, bank account, credit, and social connections we have to to be online. Sadly, too many regular people are having their lives disrupted and privacy violated through cybercrime and mass surveillance. Almost everyone has been a victim, or knows someone who has lost money, had an email or social media account hijacked, been a victim of credit card fraud, or fallen for a seemingly legitimate investment opportunity. Unfortunately, many of us live in fear or throw their hands up feeling hopeless and helpless. We end up feeling like victims with no way to protect ourselves.

The incidences of cybercrime and digital fraud are accelerating month over month and year over year. There is literally an invisible war being waged for our data, finances, personal details, and account access. Our personal privacy and security are at stake yet no one is providing clear and relatable help for regular tech users, event hough cybercriminals are becoming more subtle and sophisticated.

Too many people, business, families and organizations are unaware of the risks their digital activity assumes. Not because they are incapable of understanding. Because no one is sharing the information. Too many are unaware of the liability and devastation that mishandling data incur, or what financial damage a malware incident can cause to families and organizations.

 

What can be done?

Utah Technology & Security was created to help solve these issues. We are dedicated to helping non-technical people take control of their privacy and security. It's time for everyday technology users to finally have an advocate for navigating this digital world. We are here to empower everyone with services, training, and confidence.
